SOFTWARE ENGINEERS

DATACOM, a Brazilian company, intending to open a development center in Vienna-Austria, is looking for creative and talented people to join its R&D team, in embedded software development for the line of Carrier Metro Ethernet switches and routers.

ABOUT THE COMPANY:
DATACOM is an engineering and manufacturing firm that develops Metro Ethernet and SDH product solutions for global telecommunication service providers demanding high performance digital connectivity. With a full staff of engineers, DATACOM offers a complete suite of advanced telecommunication products that meet the requirements of end to end high speed Ethernet connectivity along with the transport of traditional legacy traffic.

Our product deployments include Brazil's largest service providers and some global carriers. DATACOM provides devices and solutions for telecom operators in many countries, including some EU states. Recently we were awarded to supply all the Ethernet access in the new Brazilian national broadband network.

The company´s product portfolio includes: high capacity Metro Ethernet switching equipment for next generation carrier networks, Multiservice SDH, PDH and E1 optical/electrical multiplexers, xDSL modems, interface converters, software for network management system and multifunctional network (handheld) test equipment.
Currently there are five development centers in Brazil, with 300+ developers, most of them located in Porto Alegre and Curitiba. Together with sales, technical support, manufacturing and administration, the workforce is over 600 people.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
Network/Embedded Software Engineers (m/f)

Responsibilities:
Design and implement core networking software features and protocols
Design and implement networking environments and IP/MPLS services
• Identify and qualify new platforms, customer requirements and features
• Occasionally provide customer support and assist with technical sales activities
• Work with customer support, R&D and product management teams to debug complex issues
• Contribute to continuously improve the strategy of the embedded networking software team
• Collaboration with engineers in Brazil will be in English

Desired skills/experience:
• HTL or Fachhochschule graduation
• Linux/Unix and C programming
• Ethernet, IP, TCP/UDP, general networking and security concepts and protocols
• 2-3+ years of complex product development and/or testing of L2/L3 protocols is a plus
• Expertise with MPLS and in the enterprise Local/Wide Area networking industry is a plus
• Scripting and test automation (using Ruby, Python etc) is a plus
• Strong analytical skills to debug and isolate problems
• Self starter, proactive and able to handle multiple tasks
• Willingness to travel to customer sites
• Good communication skills
